Selective disruption of wheat secondary metabolism by herbicide safeners

Treatment of wheat seedlings with the herbicide safener cloquintocet mexyl causes a selective loss of flavone C-glycosides of luteolin ≫ apigenin = 3′-O-methylluteolin and an accumulation of the methylated flavone tricin and ferulic acid.
