Lignans from the roots of Kadsura coccinea and their inhibitory activities on LPS-induced NO production

- Eighteen lignans were isolated from Kadsura coccinea.
- Among them, three lignans were new compound and seven known lignans were found from this plant for the first time.
- The isolated lignans were assayed for NO inhibitory activities by the Griess assays.
- Nine of the lignans showed inhibition activity of NO-production.

Three new lignans 14-O-demethyl polysperlignan D (1), kadsurindutin E (16), coccilignan A (17), and fifteen known lignan compounds (2-15 and 18) were isolated from the roots of Kadsura coccinea. Their structures were elucidated on the basis of detailed spectroscopic analyses (IR, ESIMS, HR-ESIMS, 1D and 2D NMR, and CD). The NO production inhibitory activities of these isolated lignans were also evaluated.
