A tetra-acylated cyanidin 3-sophoroside-5-glucoside from the purple-violet flowers of Moricandia arvensis (L.) DC. (Brassicaceae)

► A new anthocyanin was isolated from the purple-violet flowers of Moricandia arvensis. ► The structure was elucidated on the basis of chemical and spectroscopic data. ► Tetra acylated anthocyanin was based on 3-sophoroside-5-glucoside of cyanidin. ► The anthocyanin glycosylation pattern had chemotaxonomic significance.
