Omphalocarpoidone, a new lanostane-type furano-spiro-γ-lactone from the wood of Tridesmostemon omphalocarpoides Engl. (Sapotaceae)

- A new spiro-lanostane has been isolated from Tridesmostemon omphalocarpoides Engl.
- Its structure was determined by 2D NMR spectroscopy and X-ray crystallography.
- Eight known compounds were isolated from the same organism.
- Two known metabolites show a significant antibacterial activity against Escherichia coli.
