Triterpenoid saponins of the Caryophyllaceae and Illecebraceae family

The plant families of Caryophyllaceae and Illecebraceae are reviewed for the possession of saponins with special attention on the sapogenins gypsogenin, gypsogenic acid and quillaic acid.
