Carandinol: First isohopane triterpene from the leaves of Carissa carandas L. and its cytotoxicity against cancer cell lines

► A new isohopane (carandinol) was isolated from the leaves of Carissa caranadas. ► 3β,21α-dihydroxyisohopane. ► Carandinol showed cytotoxicity against HeLa (6.87 ± 0.32) and PC-3 (12.60 ± 0.03). ► This is the first isohopane triterpene from the genus Carissa. ► Carandinol is the first example of a cytotoxic isohopane.
