Antibacterial activity of an epoxidised prenylated cinnamaldehdye derivative from Vepris glomerata

► A comprehensive phytochemical study of Vepris glomerata was undertaken. ► A prenylated cinnamaldehyde (glomeral) and nine known compounds were isolated. ► Glomeral and hesperetin showed antimicrobial activity comparable to that of chloramphenicol. ► A full structural elucidation of glomeral was carried out.
