New styrylpyrones from the fungal endophyte Penicillium glabrum isolated from Punica granatum

► We isolated an endophytic Penicillium glabrum strain from pomegranate fruits. ► From the ethyl acetate extract of the cultured endophytic fungus we isolated two new and four known metabolites. ► The structures of the new metabolites were determined by thorough spectroscopic analysis. ► The new compounds were identified as two yangonin derivatives, namely 3-methyldesmethoxyyangonin and 3-methylbisnoryangonin.
