Use of extensometers on essential work of fracture (EWF) tests

The application of the procedure is relevant to the plastic work of fracture term (βwp). It is suggested that the values thus obtained are more accurate, since they are not affected by elastic phenomena, which may disturb the measure of energy dissipated by plastic deformation.
