Synthesis of quinone/hydroquinone sesquiterpenes

ent-Halimic acid has been used in the synthesis of the quinone/hydroquinone sesquiterpenes (−)-aureol, (−)-smenoqualone, (−)-neomamanuthaquinone and in the formal synthesis of (−)-cyclosmenospongine.

The syntheses of (−)-aureol 1, (−)-neomamanuthaquinone 2, (−)-smenoqualone 3, and the formal synthesis of (−)-cyclosmenospongine 4, from ent-halimic acid are described.Figure optionsDownload as PowerPoint slide
