Spiroquinazoline support studies: methods for the preparation of imidazoloindolines from oxindoles

Two methods for annulation of glycine to the 1 and 2 positions of oxindoles are described. One method introduces p-nitrophenyl α-azidoacetate as an N-acylation reagent. The other method involves a selective BF3-Et3SiH imide reduction.
