Copper-free Sonogashira reactions of 4-hydroxycoumarins with alkynes

The palladium-catalyzed direct coupling reactions of 4-hydroxycoumarins with various alkynes under copper-free conditions are described. This transformation is highly effective under mild conditions and the desired products are obtained in good yields.
