Improved total synthesis of (±)-trans-dihydronarciclasine, devised for large-scale preparation

New synthetic route to (±)-trans-dihydronarciclasine, more suitable for a large-scale preparation, has been devised with the early stage incorporation of ester functionality for direct assembly of the B-ring lactam.
