Synthesis of (+)-lagerstronolide from (+)-sclareol

The γ-acetoxybutenolide (+)-lagerstronolide was synthesized from (+)-sclareol, with an overall yield of 10%. The absolute stereochemistry for the natural compound (−)-lagerstronolide has been correctly established.
