Synthesis of substituted 5-aminomethyl tetrahydro-isoquinolines and dihydro-isoindoles

The synthesis of 10 substituted aminomethylene tetrahydro-isoquinolines 1a-j (eight steps from 5-hydroxyisoquinoline) and four similarly substituted dihydro-isoindoles 2a-d is described.
