A convenient synthesis of bis(indolyl)methanes catalyzed by diphosphooctadecatungstic acid

Bis(indolyl)methanes have been synthesized in excellent yields in the presence of a catalytic amount of Wells–Dawson type heteropolyacid under solvent-free conditions. The catalyst is recycled and reused several times.
