Tricyclic pseudocryptand formed by reaction of FeII with tripodand bearing triazacrown ether

A novel protonated tricyclic pseudocryptand possessing a triazacrown moiety has been synthesized and characterized by X-ray crystallographic analysis. The protonated host exhibited a unique binding behavior toward alkaline earth metal ions.
