Selective one-pot functionalization of linear alkyl acetates CnH2n + 1OCOMe (n = 6, 8), with CO and various nucleophilic substrates (iso-propanol, morpholine, piperidine, and anisole) in the presence of the superelectrophilic system CBr4·2AlBr3 is performed for the first time.
