Thiol mediated 8-endo-trig radical cyclization: an easy access to medium-sized cyclic ethers

An efficient new method for the synthesis of eight-membered heterocycles has been developed via a thiophenol mediated intramolecular 8-endo radical cyclization reaction. Alkenyl radicals are generated from easily available terminal alkynes and thiophenol.
