The first syntheses of 6,7-dihydroxylated calystegines and homocalystegines

The synthesis of novel calystegine analogues containing hydroxyl substituents on both C6 and C7 positions has been achieved. The synthetic strategy employed is based on stereoselective dihydroxylation reactions and has also been utilised for the preparation of homocalystegines.
