Synthesis of novel rigid-rod and tripodal azulene chromophores

Two novel azulene chromophores 1 and 2 were synthesized and bound to colloidal TiO2 to study dynamics of electron injection at the interface of TiO2 semiconductor nanoparticles. Fluorescence quenching was observed upon binding.
