Asymmetric crystallization of bisguanidinobenzene derivatives

The mono-N-methylated (and -ethylated) derivatives of the achiral compound bisguanidinobenzene undergo spontaneous asymmetric crystallization into a chiral form. The absolute configurations were determined by X-ray crystallography and solid-state circular dichroism.
