New syntheses for 11-(mercaptoundecyl)triethylene glycol and mercaptododecyltriethyleneoxy biotin amide

This synthesis presented here is for the attachment of biotin, but a variety of biomolecules may be grafted onto the aminotriethyleneoxydodecane disulfide. The product may be used subsequently to form self-assembled monolayers on gold surfaces.
