An efficient and highly flexible synthesis of (α),β-unsaturated γ-oxoesters

Siloxy substituted methyl cyclopropanecar☐ylates are cleaved by bromine to afford α-bromo-γ-oxoester and, after treatment with triethylamine, good yields of α,β-unsaturated γ-oxoesters.
