Role of electrolyte additives on in-vitro electrochemical behavior of micro arc oxidized titania films on Cp Ti

► Effect of electrolyte chemistry on the properties of micro arc oxidized titania films was studied. ► The role of oxygen abundance in the electrolyte on anatase-to-rutile phase transformation was studied. ► The corrosion mechanism was explained by EIS equivalent circuit modeling. ► An appropriate electrolyte system was identified to develop corrosion resistant titania films on Cp Ti.
