Synchrotron radiation photoelectron spectroscopy study of metal-oxide thin film catalysts: Pt-CeO2 coated CNTs

► Pt-CeO2 catalyst films prepared by rf sputtering deposition exhibit high concentration of Pt2+ and Pt4+ ions. ► Ce reveals mixed 4+ and 3+ oxidation states. ► CNT substrate enhances reducibility of the catalyst.
