Preparation and characterization of silicon oil based ferrofluid

► Silicon oil based ferrofluid was prepared using silicon oil surfactant EtO-PDMS as modifier. ► The optimal amount of TEOS and EtO-PDMS was obtained. ► Silicon oil based ferrofluid had high magnetism and good stability.
