Interface effects in the electronic structure of TiO2 deposited on MgO, Al2O3 and SiO2 substrates

► Study of TiO2 monolayers on three different oxides substrates by XAS and RPES. ► We paid attention to the interaction of the TiO2 monolayers with the substrate. ► The covalent character of the substrate reduces covalency of the overlayer. ► Both techniques confirm the formation of Ti-O-M cross linking bonds at the interface.
