In this work, yolk-shell MnCo2O4-TiO2 microspheres were synthesized by a solvo-thermal method combined with a subsequent kinetic-controlled coating. The as-fabricated MnCo2O4-TiO2-50 composite shows remarkable electrochemical performance as an anode material for lithium-ion batteries, with a high specific capacity, superior cycle stability and excellent rate capabilities. At a current density of 100 mA gâ1, the composite exhibits a reversible specific capacity of 1271.5 mA h gâ1 for up to 200 cycles, exhibiting stable cyclic performance. The outstanding electrochemical performance of MnCo2O4-TiO2-50 microspheres is due to its rational composition and structure. The porous yolk-shell structure buffers the volume change of the electrode material during charging/discharging, whereas the MnCo2O4 core and TiO2 shell synergistically assure stable cycling and satisfactory specific capacity.
