Cytopathies mitochondriales et anesthésie

Mitochondrial cytopathy are rare disease in children who benefit from repeated anaesthesia for diagnostic or emergency. However, anaesthesia drugs interact with mitochondrial metabolism, more specifically local anesthetics, volatile agents and propofol. So, precise description of alterations in mitochondrial metabolism must be performed in order to choose anesthesia protocol and prevent perioperative complications. Complications as metabolic acidosis, cardiorespiratory failure neurologic troubles must be searched.
