Patients with preexisting risk factors for cerebrovascular disease have an increased risk of postoperative stroke during coronary surgery. Among the main risk factors to consider are age, comorbidities and surgical technique, especially manipulation of the aorta. This paper reviews current medical surgical information on stroke-type neurological injury during CABG alone.
