Hemoglobin immobilized with modified “fish-in-net” approach for the catalytic removal of aniline

► After encapsulation, Hb was partially homogeneously dispersed inside the matrix. ► The activity of the biocatalyst showed better tolerance toward pH changes than free Hb. ► The as-synthesized biocatalyst gave significant aniline removal. ► PEG enhanced the removal efficiency by increasing molecular weight of the product - polyaniline.
