Tectonometamorphic evolution of Seram and Ambon, eastern Indonesia: Insights from 40Ar/39Ar geochronology

• Twelve rocks from Seram were dated by the 40Ar/39Ar furnace step-heating method.
• 16 Ma 40Ar/39Ar ages record kyanite-grade metamorphism and cooling of UHT migmatites.
• 5.7 Ma 40Ar/39Ar ages record the operation of extensional detachments in W Seram.
• 4.5 Ma 40Ar/39Ar ages record deformation within Seram's Kawa Shear Zone.
• 3.5 Ma 40Ar/39Ar ages record migmatite exhumation and cooling on Ambon.
