Assessment of cytotoxic and genotoxic potential of refinery waste effluent using plant, animal and bacterial systems

► We used three systems, Allium cepa, bacterial and human erythrocytes to check refinery toxicity. ► We examined change in Allium cepa chromosomes and nucleus upon treatment. ► We also observed decrease in %survival of E. coli K12 strains upon treatment. ► % Hemolysis was higher in MRWW treated erythrocytes.
