Degradation of Acid Red 274 using H2O2 in subcritical water: Application of response surface methodology

► The hydrogen peroxide was used as oxidant in subcritical water for AR 274 dye degradation. ► Box-Behnken design combined with RSM was employed to optimized AR 274 degradation. ► The optimum conditions were determined. ► Degradation products are detected by GC-MS. ► Degradation mechanism was discussed and the probable degradation pathway was deduced.
