Preparation of adsorbent for phosphate recovery from aqueous solutions based on condensed tannin gel

► The iron-loaded tannin gel (FeOxTG) is prepared from an inexpensive natural polymer. ► Loading iron into the gel results in the increase in the phosphate adsorption amount. ► Oxidation of the gel leads to the increase of the iron amount loaded into the gel. ► The phosphate adsorption isotherm for the FeOxTG follows the Freundlich equation.
