Experimental study on the characteristics of horizontal flame spread over XPS surface on plateau

► The flame spread experiments over XPS surface were carried out at the altitude of 3658 m. ► The altitude might changes the melting and the pyrolysis mechanisms of XPS. ► Two different heat transfer regimes dominate the flame spread as the increasing of sample scale.
