A proteomic insight into the effects of the immunomodulatory hydroxynaphthoquinone lapachol on activated macrophages

► The effect of the immunomodulatory agent lapachol was studied through proteomics. ► Macrophages were TLR2-agonised or activated with IFN-γ. ► Cytosol and membrane protein levels were quantified after bi-dimensional separations. ► Changes in protein levels induced by lapachol indicated possibly affected functions. ► Cell migration, phagocytosis and protein degradation may be impaired.
