Geniposide, from Gardenia jasminoides Ellis, inhibits the inflammatory response in the primary mouse macrophages and mouse models

► Geniposide inhibited the LPS-induced TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β production. ► Geniposide blocked the phosphorylation of IkBα, p65, p38, ERK and JNK in cells. ► Geniposide inhibited TLR4 expression and IL-8 production in HEK293-mTLR4/MD-2 cells. ► Geniposide attenuated lung histopathologic changes in the mouse models.
