Protective effect of bixin on cisplatin-induced genotoxicity in PC12 cells

► Bixin does not increase the cytotoxicity of cisplatin under the evaluated conditions. ► Overall, we observed potential protective effects associated with bixin. ► Bixin can function as a protective agent, reducing cisplatin-induced DNA damage. ► The antioxidant effects of bixin may have contributed to the antigenotoxic effects.
