Clinical utility of 18F-fluoride PET/CT in benign and malignant bone diseases

► There is renewed interest in using 18F-fluoride PET/CT for imaging bone diseases. ► Growing evidence indicates that 18F fluoride PET/CT is better than 99mTc based bone scintigraphy in evaluating metastatic bone disease. ► We reviewed the pharmacological characteristics of sodium fluoride, and the clinical utility of 18F-fluoride PET/CT.
