Yellow-bellied Marmots (Marmota flaviventris) preserve bone strength and microstructure during hibernation

► Some hibernating mammals may prevent disuse osteoporosis during hibernation. ► We studied pre- and post-hibernation yellow-bellied marmots. ► We examine differences in bone mechanical and structural properties between groups. ► Bone properties between groups are not different indicating prevention of osteoporosis.
