Relationship between placental expression of the imprinted PHLDA2 gene, intrauterine skeletal growth and childhood bone mass

► We examined placental PHLDA2 expression in 102 pregnancies. ► Identified negative correlation between placental PHLDA2 and fetal femur growth. ► Identified negative correlation between placental PHLDA2 and bone density at 4 years. ► Placental PHLDA2 may provide a biomarker for suboptimal skeletal growth.
