Phylogeny and genetic history of the Siberian salamander (Salamandrella keyserlingii, Dybowski, 1870) inferred from complete mitochondrial genomes

► We sequenced 26 mitochondrial genomes of the Siberian salamander. ► We sequenced, for the first time, mitochondrial genome of the Schrenck salamander. ► Phylogeny of the Siberian salamander was reconstructed. ► Evolutionary ages of the Siberian salamander mtDNA clades were estimated. ► Bayesian skyline plot analysis was performed to infer population size changes.
