Molecular phylogeny of treeshrews (Mammalia: Scandentia) and the timescale of diversification in Southeast Asia

► We present the first molecular phylogeny of all recognized treeshrew species. ► Most colonization has been between adjacent areas or island groups. ► Most treeshrew diversification took place in the Miocene and Pliocene. ► Net diversification rate has not been constant.
