Nonalcoholic fatty liver disease is associated with subclinical atherosclerosis independent of obesity and metabolic syndrome in Asian Indians

► Subjects with NAFLD have significant subclinical atherosclerosis in Asian Indians. ► NAFLD is independently associated with high CIMT and endothelial dysfunction. ► This is independent of obesity, metabolic syndrome and insulin resistance. ► High levels of hs-CRP and sICAM-1 may be useful markers of liver injury.
