Bactericidal properties and biocompatibility of a gentamicin-loaded Fe3O4/carbonated hydroxyapatite coating

- Gentamicin-loaded Fe3O4/carbonated hydroxyapatite coating (Gent-MCHC) was prepared.
- MCHC possessed mesoporous structure and magnetic property.
- Gent-MCHC had superior drug loading-release property than Gent-loaded Ti.
- Gent-MCHC deterred bacterial adhesion and prevented biofilm formation.
- Gent-MCHC had better biocompatibility and mitogenic activity than Gent-Ti.
