Biofilm inhibition and antimicrobial action of lipopeptide biosurfactant produced by heavy metal tolerant strain Bacillus cereus NK1

► Biosurfactant was produced by heavy metal tolerant strain Bacillus cereus NK1. ► The biosurfactant showed potent antimicrobial and anti-adhesive activity. ► Its activity was highly stable at extremes of pH, temperature and NaCl concentration. ► The critical micelle concentration of the biosurfactant was 45 mg/l.
