Development and evaluation of cyclodextrin complexed hydroxyapatite nanoparticles for preferential albumin adsorption

► Hydroxyapatite containing β-cyclodextrin were produced by co-precipitation method. ► Increase in hydrophobicity seems to promote an affinity for specific protein adsorption. ► As the amount of β-cyclodextrin increases the amount of albumin adsorbed also increases. ► Blood compatibility and hemolytic index was evaluated. ► The H2 sample shows around 40% increase in albumin adsorption.
