Differential response to specific 5-Ht(7) versus whole-serotonergic drugs in rat forebrains: A phMRI study

► Two serotonergic psychoactive compounds were investigated by Ph-MRI (4.7 T) in rats. ► SB269970, a 5-Ht7 antagonist, induced positive BOLD in oPFC and Nacc. ► 8-OH-DPAT (at a dose blocking serotonin release) acted dominantly on dorsal striatum. ► New insights appear about serotonin 7 receptor function and forebrain activation.
